Gift for 5 year old that loves Toy StoryApr 11, 2010 This was a good idea as a gift for my five year old because he tends to dislike "educational" stuff but because it was Toy Story he really got into it. Really good for someone learning beginning numbers and fractions.
We like it!Mar 16, 2010 This was purchased for my daughter when she turned 4 yrs old. She is now 5 yrs old & still loves this game. This is our only ClickStart cartridge, so she does seem to enjoy it more than the included games. As far as the graphics, they are not bad. They are not the best, but neither are any of the other graphics from these preschool "video game" type toys. We have the VSmile & the graphics to this game are FAR superior to those... so it does not bother me at all... and they don't seem to bother my daughter in the slightest bit. You can't compare a preschool toy to a major video game like Wii, Playstation, or XBox... they are just not in the same category. For it's category, it's fine.
As far as the game itself, it's more like a "video" game than the included games for ClickStart... the whole moving the guy forward & jumping up & down to collect points from various things. But it does require math to move on, so it's not too bad in Mommy's eyes. The biggest problem we have with this game is the same thing we have will ALL her TV games (all of ClickStart & the VSmile)... our HDTV randomly changes the screen view from normal to stretch & then you can't see the math problem at the top of the screen to continue. My daughter either gets frustrated & mad or just ignores it, which makes her guess at the answer & then Mommy gets annoyed b/c I know there's no learning going on... the result is that we just turn the TV off & then back on, which usually still keeps the game at the same point (but not always). I believe that's our TV though, b/c we didn't have that issue when we had the old (non-HD) TV.

not a favoriteMay 20, 2009 If you own the click start and other games, you might not be impressed with this one. I'm kind of anti-game systems for young kids, but agreed to get this one since the controller was a keyboard. We have the Thomas and the Cars games and love both of them as well as the buit-in games. The Toy Story game, however, doesn't use the keyboard, just the arrows. You control the characters by jumping/running to get items. Granted, you are looking for specific shapes, numbers, colors, or whatever, but it's more like a traditional video game. My husband and I even have trouble controlling the characters.

If they like Toy Story they will love this gameMar 05, 2009 Our daughter, 3, absolutely loves this game. She got it for Christmas about two months before her 3rd birthday and had no trouble using it. We purchased the system because there was a Toy Story Game available since it is her favorite Disney movie. Some of the other reviews talk about the simplistic graphics, but I actually think that is a good thing for the younger kids. It is a simple game that is easy for toddlers to grasp. A great introduction to video games and has educational value as well.
