    3More fun for the cat, I thinkFeb 14, 2010
This falls into the category of things I bought for my son, but are far more enjoyed by my cat. So, together, they think it's fairly fun. Babies like to have a playhouse or a tent, and that is fun for them in and of itself. The balls going down the runners is fun for him, frustrating for me. It seems no matter what you do those stupid runners constantly pop out, and while they aren't difficult to put back in place, they are a pain in the ***. If you were a big person, it would be impossible, because you are constantly having to get inside the tent to put them back. When the balls go through the tracks, there is nothing to stop them from rolling when they exit the track. So, if you have hardwood floors, this translates to balls everywhere, only 5 come with the tent, and constant seraching to find the balls to the tent. This is actually why I am online right now - I am looking for an additional pack of balls for the tent.
It's ok, and if you find it used, I recommend getting it. If not, I recommend making your own tent out of a large sheet or blanket!

    3Fun but very lightweightFeb 11, 2010
We bought this when my twins were 14 months old. They are now 19 months old. They still like to play with it, but there are some drawbacks to it.

What they like: They really like the balls that come with it. They have eyes painted on them and rattle. They enjoy the peek-a-boo holes. They even pass small toys through the holes to each other. They enjoy just lying inside of it at times. The top of the playhouse has holes and I think they get a kick out of looking at the ceiling through it.

    The drawbacks:

It is extremely lightweight. Even when they first got it, they were able to move it. They have always been taller than it is so when they try to stand up inside of it, the playhouse is actually lifted off the ground. They now grab the sides and drag it across the room. If they lean against it, it tilts so that one or more feet are off the ground.

As other reviewers have said, the ball slides pop off very easily. I have had no trouble putting them back on, but I stopped bothering after a couple of days. The twins just take them off almost immediately. But, on the up side, it gives them more peek-a-boo holes.

The playhouse is rated for ages 12 months and up, but some things are too advanced for young children. There are places on the outside of the playhouse where your children can drop balls, five balls and five spaces fitting 1-5 balls. The balls can be removed from the places holding one or two balls by reaching in and pulling them out; even my twins can do this. However, the places holding three, four, or five balls are too deep to reach in. You have to work to get the balls out and there is no way a young child will be able to figure out how. There are doors at the bottom that open on the inside of the playhouse and you are supposed to get the balls out that way. The problem is that the doors have shape keys (supposed to be like a shape sorter), but they are small and difficult for young children to manipulate, especially since the keys are on a keyring and cannot be removed to use just one at a time.

When putting it together, you must be sure that the recessed screws are facing up on both the frame and the hinges. If you don't have this side up, you won't be able to fold it out properly. Otherwise, it was very easy to assemble.

I bought it because I thought they would enjoy it and be able to play in it together. The fact that it folded up for storage was a plus. Overall, it was an okay investment, but I don't know that I would buy it again. I might sacrifice the space and spend more to get a Step2 playhouse.

    4It's mostly greatFeb 08, 2010
At 11 months my daughter fell in love with this playhouse. We play peek-a-boo around its corners and through the peep holes. And she'll spend a lot of time playing with the ball chute. It's the kind of toy that will grow with her. At first I thought I'd spent too much money on it, but if it lasts as long as I think it will, it'll be a good investment.

Here's the drawback-- the ball chutes come loose and you have to re-attach them. It's a pain, but I don't think it's that big a deal. I suppose that all depends on your tolerance for an engineering flaw. For us, we're fine with fixing them from time to time, feeling like the toy is overall a hit. The inconvenience is relatively minor.

Twelve month old loves this, but the ball chutes do not stay in snapped in place...come loose way too easily!!! Quality should be better for the price!!

    3Nice productFeb 05, 2010
My daughter was 19 mo when we bought this for her. She does like to play with it but it could have more things to do on it. I think she might have liked it more when she was younger. Now she basically tries to figure out how to work the keys but that's it.
